Conducted by GRACT scholar Sithumini Mendis as part of her Master's by Research (MScR) in Agriculture and Food Security at the University of Edinburgh, the study examines farmers' perceptions of climate change and pesticide use in Ginnoruwa, a rural agricultural community in Sri Lanka. Using qualitative research methods, the study explores how environmental change, irrigation development, and institutional influences shape farmers' pesticide use decisions. It finds that these decisions are influenced not only by technical considerations but also by farmers' lived experiences, social identities, and interactions with multiple sources of knowledge and authority.
