Dr Simon Bratt is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Liverpool Hope University, specialising in co-existing mental health and substance use. After nearly two decades in frontline crisis and homelessness work, he now focuses on research, teaching, and system change. He developed the Layered Care framework and the Integrated Morphogenetic Care Model, using critical realism and lived experience to challenge how services understand distress, addiction, and care’.
